We recruit Native applicants from all parts of the United States and Canada for M.S., M.P.S and
Ph.D programs in biological, natural and social sciences, humanities, as well as law, business,
veterinary and medicine.
Our student support staff and faculty will guide students with the graduate admissions process
and field selection.
We coordinate with graduate fields to arrange for campus visits for accepted and prospective
students.
We work with The Graduate School to target our Native student recruitment efforts.
We attend various national conferences to meet native students interested in graduate programs and
provide one-on-one advising.
Community & Career Commitment
To complete the Full Circle model we are committed to developing new scholars who will contemplate,
study, and contribute to the building of a Native voice in academia. Many of our graduates already serve
in this capacity.
On-Campus Support
Our student services staff can provide the conventional academic, financial and personal counseling
and advising, as well as assisting with the unique needs of non-traditional students.
We promote educational, cultural, and social events that build a sense of community at Cornell that
includes undergrad, graduate students, faculty and staff as well as other members of the native
community.
We sponsor graduate Native student organizations including the Cornell Council of American Indian
Graduate and Professional Students (CCAIGPS) and the Native American Law Student Association (NALSA)
that support students in their academic fields and social interactions.
We serve as a resource for information on fellowships, teaching and research assistantships.
We also provide 2-3 teaching assistantships per semester.
We provide limited office space for students that is equipped with a LAN computers, printing,
access to a Native American literature collection and various native publications.
We offer emergency assistance to students facing personal crises.
Our faculty provide personal and academic mentoring for graduate students.
